When you see a photo like this, does it make you feel as if you are going up or going down? That is the question… I think that since there is a glimpse of something above it draws the mind up… yet it could just as well be leaving and coming down as going up.
I see it as coming down — the hill, the stairs … even the light poles seem to all pull my mind down.
but — knowing that I took it at the top of a (football) stadium, looking across to the other side, looking down to the field — it seems more natural to me to look down. I suppose if I didn’t know it was a stadium, the same things might pull me up.
